The Sea Lions are excited to announce the addition of former Sea Lion and Redwing swimmer, Paul Avery to the Legends Series of clinics on Monday, January 27th.  Paul is the current record holder in the 100 backstroke at St. Johns, with a time of 53.69.  This is the longest standing record at St. Johns, having held up since 1990.

As a Sea Lion from 1979-1985 Paul held records in the 8&Under 25 butterfly and 25 backstroke.  As a Redwing Varsity swimmer from 1986/87 to 1989/90 he held records in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 IM, 50 Free, 100 Free and the 100 Backstroke (still stands).

Paul went on to swim on Eastern Michigan University Men’s Varsity team and was an individual MAC conference champion in the 100 yard butterfly, won multiple MAC relay championships and 4 MAC Team Championships.

Paul is currently the Principal at Fulton Elementary School.  Truly a Legend in St. Johns Swimming, the Sea Lions are very excited to have him sharing his talents and experiences with our swimmers.
